Wrongfully Convicted

The vast resources of government are often applied to generating crime scene evidence. It would be useful for an Innocence Project to screen potentially exculpatory DNA evidence in a rapid, informative, and understandable way. This screening function would help a project select appropriate clients, as well as help direct their legal defense. A government crime lab may have already generated pre-existing DNA data which can be obtained through the discovery process. (Alternatively, a lab could generate post-conviction DNA evidence, possibly using public funds.) Clearly, the TrueAllele® technology can automatically perform the interpretation and reporting screening functions. Pittsburgh-based Cybergenetics would like its TrueAllele technology used in this way for the public interest.
